Groundswell is an annual coming together of people impacted by, invested in and working on migration in India. The event aims to foster a community of like-minded people and organisations to work towards policy inclusion of migrants, building safer migration and workplace practices with an aim to create a more equitable
space for them.
Trainings
We conduct capacity-building workshops and training programmes for journalists and civil society organisations (CSOs) on diverse themes such as reporting on migration, documenting impactful case studies, covering extreme heat and climate change, reporting with a strong gender lens and solutions journalism.
Research
We undertake research projects for academic institutions, civil-society organisations, film productions and web series, grounded in long-form investigation, direct field engagement. We tailor research to diverse formats ranging from writing case stories for CSOs, scholarly publications for universities, narrative frameworks for documentaries and episodic content for digital platforms.

The migration story
The Migration Story newsroom has for nearly two years captured the journeys and challenges of India’s vast migrant workforce. It documents their ever-growing vulnerabilities owing to climate change and rising rural distress, while exploring solutions for the future. Through consistent reportage and innovative storytelling the portal aims to mainstream migrant matters and build a repository of research and data on the subject.
Towards that end, we partner with organisations and think tanks in the development space to shine a light on under-reported issues through subject-driven collaborations. Our collaborations focus on capturing best practices, conducting in-depth reporting, and using multimedia to connect people across regions through shared experiences and insights.
